Basic Physics for Gamma Spectroscopy

1 Month Access $50.00

What you will learn:

Gamma Spectroscopy is used to identify radioactive isotopes within a sample. Understanding how gamma spectroscopy works is critical for any Health Physicist in their research and out in the field. This course offers a fast-paced review of the basic principles of gamma spectroscopic analysis. Additional concepts include a review of the nature and origins of gamma-emitting radioactivity, basic physics of gamma interaction with matter, consequences of gamma interactions on gamma spectra, gamma spectroscopy system components and calibrations, gamma spectroscopy analysis methods, and interpretation of gamma spectroscopy data.

After completing this course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the nature, origins, and basic physics of gamma-emitting radioactivity and its interactions with matter, including their effects on gamma spectra.
  • Identify the components of gamma spectroscopy systems, perform calibrations, and understand their roles in accurate gamma spectroscopic analysis.
  • Apply gamma spectroscopy analysis methods to evaluate spectra and accurately interpret results in various scientific and practical contexts.

Who Will Benefit:

  • Health Physicists
