What you will learn:

Occupational Health Nurses work in a variety of environments. Being versed in the foundations of epidemiology and important techniques, will allow Occupational Health Nurses to expand their possible in their organization. This module introduces occupational health nurses (OHNs) to the principles of epidemiology and research methodologies. It covers various study designs (cohort, cross-sectional, case-control), surveillance techniques, and statistical methods to analyze health outcomes related to workplace exposures. The content emphasizes how OHNs can apply epidemiology to improve workplace health and safety, identify trends, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions. This course is also part of the OHN Prep Course Package.

After completing this course, learners will be able to: 

  • Recognize various study designs and their advantages and disadvantages.
  • Analyze individual and aggregate case information for trend analysis and research. 
  • Apply principles of epidemiology to design and evaluate occupational health and/or safety programs.
