Cancer treatment often disrupts a patient's ability to work, yet most clinicians lack structured tools to address it.

Developed by the Well-Being and Cancer at Work (WeCanWork) project at the Centers for Health, Work & Environment, these trainings equip both oncology care teams and occupational medicine physicians with practical, evidence-based strategies to assess work-related concerns, support patients as they navigate employment during treatment, and connect them with the right resources at the right time.

These self-paced trainings are designed to support oncology and occupational medicine teams with:

Conversational Tools

Practical conversation tools you can use right away

Patient Identification Guidance

Simple ways to identify patients who may need support

Accommodations Guidance

Guidance on accommodations and documentation

Referral Pathways

Clear referral pathways to occupational medicine (when available)

Each course is available as an open-access, no-cost version or a fee-based version to earn continuing education (CE) credits.

Work is a critical part of many patients’ financial stability, identity, and well-being. These self-paced trainings helps teams support patients in staying at or returning to work.
