What you will learn: 

For many people, we spend most of our day at our job, creating a space that impacts our health. Occupational Health Nurses have a unique opportunity to promote the health of their patients, and their own work environments too. This module will provide the occupational health nurse with an overview of the evidence supporting workplace health promotion and strategies for programs, policies, and practices directed at employees and employers. The material covered in this course includes how work and health impact each other, evidence-based module for health promotion and disease prevention, and health education principles. This course is also part of the OHN Prep Course Package.

After completing this course, learners will be able to: 

  • Discuss the burden of health on work and the burden of work on employee health.
  • Identify health risks, hazards, and assessments.
  • Discuss models for health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Identify the levels of disease prevention at work.
