What you will learn: 

Occupational health nurses often interact or serve on a team with industrial hygiene and safety professionals. Obtaining a deeper understanding of the processes and knowledge that goes into creating hazard-aware workspaces will provide Occupational Health Nurses with the opportunity to help keep their patients safe when they return to work. This module will give occupational health nurses a fundamental knowledge of core industrial hygiene and safety concepts including hazard recognition, exposure assessment, the hierarchy of controls, and the process for job safety analysis. This course is also part of the OHN Prep Course Package.

After completing this course, learners will be able to: 

  • Apply the definitions of hazard recognition and hazard evaluation, also called exposure assessment.
  • Explain the process of exposure assessment.
  • Explain the hierarchy of hazard controls.
  • Understand the content of a Job Safety Analysis.
