OHN Prep: Respiratory Protection

What you will learn:

Many environmental toxins enter the body via the respiratory tract, and injury to the respiratory system is the most common injury to internal organs. The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses has published competency levels for respiratory protection, as this is such a large area of practice for occupational health nurses. This course will provide information for OHNs to help decrease and eliminate the exposures that come from environmental toxins and how to reduce their long-term impact. Other concepts in this course include competencies in clinical practice, surveillance, regulation, leadership and training in respiratory protection. This course is also part of the OHN Prep Course Package.

After completing this course, learners will be able to: 

  • Identify skills that effective leaders use to promote workplace safety, health and well-being.
  • Identify sources of stress and tips on how to reduce their impact.
  • Explore facts about fatigue and sleep, along with steps to improve workforce resilience.
