What you will learn: 

Occupational health nursing (OHN) is a challenging field of practice. It requires a strong background in nursing essentials, plus knowledge of legal and regulatory issues which are unique to occupational health. The information provided in this module will describe, in broad terms, the regulations that apply in the OHN setting; how these regulations are promulgated; and where to find reliable sources of information. Additional concepts present in this course include non-regulatory compliance sources and process of OSHA inspections. This knowledge will enhance the OHN’s practice, and the quality of care provided. This course is also part of the OHN Prep Course Package.

After completing this course, learners will be able to: 

  • Describe the legal and regulatory requirements for the OHNs
  • List the primary sources of non-regulatory guidance for OHN practice
  • Describe the regulatory process
  • Understand what to expect during an OSHA inspection and confidentiality issues
