What will you learn:

With the legalization of marijuana use, it has resulted in a spike of marijuana cultivation plants. As more people begin working in the marijuana cultivation field, it is important they are equipped with the necessary information to keep themselves and their workplace safe and injury free. This course is an online version of the live course, Safety Training for Cannabis Cultivators, delivered on November 15, 2017. The training covers the basic concepts of occupational safety applied to marijuana cultivation and highlights the recently published handbook "Guide to Worker Safety and Health in the Marijuana Industry"

After completing this course, learners will be able to: 

  • Identify basic safety guidelines and procedures determine through OSHA.
  • Learn to identify and reduce hazards among workers and in the workplace.
  • Understand the concepts of hierarchy of control and how they apply to this work.
  • Demonstrate knowledge on the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment needed.
  • Learn the appropriate communication for addressing and reporting hazards and incidents.
