What you will learn:

The occupational and environmental health nurse is the liaison between employee, business, community, and the environment. The field of occupational health has a very long history. Several catastrophic workplace accidents and environmental disasters prompted legislation to protect workers and the public. This module will discuss the evolution of occupational health nurses and the variety of roles in the many sectors OHNs work in. Additional concepts in this course include the roles and responsibilities that OHNs have in their many environments of work. This course is also a part of the OHN Prep Course Package.

After completing this course, learners will be able to:

  • Discuss the events that impacted occupational health and the responses.
  • Define the roles and responsibilities of Occupational Health Nurses.

Direct Care

This module will review common diseases and occupational injuries by body system: Eyes; Ears, Nose & Throat; Cardiac; Musculoskeletal; Skin: and Neurological.

Case Management

This module offers an in-depth exploration of chemical hazards in the workplace, focusing on their physical forms, occupational exposure limits, and the protective measures needed to ensure safety.

Exam Prep

The overall purpose of this module is to prepare occupational health nurses with an adequate knowledge base to successfully take the certification exam.
